WSI (Water Safety Instructor)

Water Safety Instructor(WSI) certifies a person age 16 or older to teach American Red Cross Infant and Preschool Aquatic programs and swim programs - Levels I - VI. WSI is for swimmers age 16 and older who are currently taking or are certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. This class includes an online portion where they will need to register online with the American Red Cross and complete online learning sessions. Each student is required to pay an additional $35.00 to the American Red Cross. Information on this will be communicated by the instructor to the participant.

WSI
  • PLEASE BRING BATHING SUIT, TOWEL AND SWEATSHIRT. Students will be in and out of the water and portions of the classes will be held in a classroom.
  • Additional time will also be required for student teaching.
  • Students will also need to shadow swim lessons for a total of 12 hours on days they do not have class. Lessons are from 10:00am to 12:30pm, Monday thru Friday.
